He was a player who played the role of a median. He tied his name for almost the whole career to that of Milan, with whose shirt he made his debut in the immediate post-war period, covering the role of median. Called in the meantime in the national team, he debuted with the number 4 shirt in the match against Czechoslovakia on December 14, 1947 alongside some players of the Grande Torino. He remained within the national team until 1952, when, after 17 appearances, the last of which as captain, he gave way to two other great medians of the '50s, Giacomo Mari and Sergio Cervato. In the championship he was among the protagonists of the famous 1951 championship, with which Milan returned to the tricolor after 44 years of waiting: in that season, Annovazzi also proved to be an excellent scorer despite his role, scoring 16 goals (8 of which on penalty kick). In 1953 he passed to Atalanta, with whom he played in the top flight until 1958. After his career as a footballer, he dedicated himself to that of coach, above all of youth teams. Shortly before his death he had the opportunity to have among his ranks also the young Franco Baresi.
